Tribal Village has three parts: Tribal:Pura, General Skills for American Tribal Style© (GSATS), and American Tribal Style© Teacher Training (ATSTT). You may register for all three parts or one. The class schedules are listed below.

Location: Classes and vending will be held in the Kelley School of Business, 1309 E. Tenth Street, Rooms BU 301 and BU 307, Bloomington, IN 47405

Recommendations: Students are encouraged to wear dance or loose fitting and comfortable clothing. Also feel free to bring writing materials for note taking.

 

Tribal:Pura - Saturday, March 10 - Sunday, March 11

Tribal:Pura is a exploration of traditional Tribal Style belly dance. On Saturday and Sunday, discover Tribal in its original form during a two-day workshop taught by its creator, Carolena Nericcio. These workshops are open to the public. It’s a great way to get started in American Tribal Style© or brush up on your ATS© skills.

  • Saturday, March 10 - 9 am-3:45 pm, includes breaks and lunch
  • Sunday, March 11 - 9 am-4:00 pm, includes breaks and lunch

Cost for Tribal: Pura is $70 for one day and $130 for both days before February 27, 2012; $80 for one day and $150 for both days after February 27, 2012. Go to Register.

 

General Skills for American Tribal Style© (GSATS) & One Day Pass with Drills - Monday, March 12 - Thursday, March 15

A 20 hour, four 5-hour days, intensive presenting all 70+ steps from the FCBD© ATS© vocabulary along with cues, formations, lead and follow, chorus, music theory for ATS© and functional anatomy for dance. Students must attend all 20 hours, no exceptions, to receive certificate.

  • Certificate awarded upon completion.
  • Limited to 25 people.
  • Four 5-hour days - Each day runs from 10 am-6 or 7 pm

This will be taught by either Carolena or Carolena and Megha.

Note: In order to receive the certificate you must be registered for and attend all four days.

Limited to 35 students. This includes the One Day Pass with Drills students.

American Tribal Style Teacher Training© (ATSTT) - Friday, March 16 - Saturday, March 17

For graduates of GSATS who are also teaching or performing other styles of Tribal, Tribal Fusion, or Oriental Dance.

Curriculum will include instruction on how to present the concept of ATS©, the steps, verbal instruction, physical cueing, assessing students needs, answering common questions, structuring a class and troubleshooting.

Two days - Each day runs from 10 am-7 pm. Breaks and lunch are included.

Limited to 14 students.

Teacher Training is closed.
